Affiliate Creative Assets: What Publishers Actually Need to Promote Your Brand

Most brands provide inadequate creative support to their affiliate publishers. Publishers who can't easily access quality assets produce lower-quality content — or don't produce affiliate content at all. This guide covers the creative assets every affiliate program should provide and how to make them genuinely useful to publishers.

Section 1

Essential Creative Asset Types

The baseline creative package every affiliate program should provide: Product images and photography: high-resolution product images in multiple orientations (front, side, lifestyle, close-up) at a minimum of 2000px on the long side; transparent-background PNG product images for flexible use in publisher content; lifestyle photography showing products in use in relevant contexts; images formatted for common editorial contexts (hero images, in-article images, social media square and vertical formats). Brand identity assets: vector logo files (SVG or EPS) in primary and alternate color variations including a white/reversed version for dark backgrounds; brand color hex codes and guidelines for how the brand name and logo may (and may not) be used; font guidance if publishers are creating custom branded content. Product specification sheets: factual product information documents covering key features, specifications, materials, dimensions, and claims the publisher may truthfully make about the product; claim guidance (what publishers may and may not assert about the product) prevents inadvertent misrepresentation; ingredient or composition information relevant to the product category. Video assets: brand overview or product videos formatted for social media (vertical 9:16, square 1:1) and blog/website (landscape 16:9); unboxing or product demonstration videos that publishers can reference or incorporate with permission; b-roll footage for publishers creating video content who want brand footage to supplement their own. Promotional offer documentation: current promotional offers, discount codes, and first-order incentives that publishers should feature in their content; promotion calendar (what offers are running when) so publishers can plan content around promotional timing; affiliate-specific promotional codes if the program uses publisher-specific discounts.

Section 2

Asset Organization and Delivery

How to make assets actually accessible to publishers: Dedicated affiliate resource hub: publishers should have a single destination for all brand assets — an affiliate-specific portal, a well-organized Google Drive folder, or a dedicated section of the affiliate network dashboard; assets scattered across email attachments, multiple links, and network resources require significant publisher effort to locate and assemble. Asset organization and naming: organize assets by type (images, video, brand assets, product info) and by product line or category; name files descriptively (brand-product-hero-2000px.jpg not IMG_1234.jpg); include a dated asset index so publishers can identify when new assets are available. Asset freshness notifications: notify publishers when new assets are added — seasonal imagery, new product photography, updated brand assets; publishers who know new assets are available are more likely to create fresh content; publishers who don't know about asset updates keep using older content that may be outdated. Access permission clarity: clearly specify which assets publishers may use, in what contexts, and with what requirements (attribution, link requirements, logo usage rules); asset packages that include a one-page usage guide prevent misuse and reduce publisher uncertainty about what's permitted.

Section 3

Copy and Messaging Support

The written resources publishers need: Approved product descriptions: multiple length versions of approved product descriptions (25 words, 50 words, 100 words, 200 words) that publishers can adapt for their content; descriptions at multiple lengths match different content contexts — a short description for a product roundup, a longer description for a dedicated review. Key benefit statements and claims: a concise list of the 5-10 most compelling and accurate things publishers can say about the product; benefit statements that are factually accurate, distinctive, and consumer-relevant; claims that are approved for publisher use vs. claims that require evidence or context that only the brand can provide. SEO keyword guidance: the primary keywords and phrases the brand is targeting, shared with publishers to help them create content that is both affiliate-effective and search-optimized; keyword guidance helps publishers understand what searchers are looking for and position their content effectively. Brand voice and tone guidelines: brief guidance on how the brand speaks (tone, terminology, values) so publisher content is consistent with the brand's positioning; brand voice guidance is particularly valuable for premium and luxury brands where misaligned tone in publisher content erodes brand equity.

Section 4

Seasonal and Campaign Creative Packages

Planned creative support for promotional periods: Holiday creative packages: provide publishers with seasonal creative packages at least 6 weeks before major gifting seasons (Black Friday, holiday season, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day) — product images with seasonal context, gift positioning copy, promotional offer details for the season; publishers who plan seasonal content months in advance need assets early to create the content, photograph products, and schedule publishing. Product launch packages: when launching new products, send publishers a dedicated launch package including product imagery, key features and differentiators, launch promotional offers, and suggested content angles; publishers who receive a launch package are significantly more likely to cover a new product than publishers who learn about the launch from the network alone. Campaign-specific assets: for brand-led campaigns (cause partnerships, seasonal themes, brand milestones), provide campaign-specific creative to publishers who want to participate — co-branded imagery, campaign messaging, campaign-specific discount codes; campaign creative packages allow publishers to create content that aligns with the brand's current narrative and reach audiences who are paying attention to the campaign.
