Network EPC (7-Day / 30-Day)

The average earnings per click across all publishers in an affiliate program on a given network, calculated over a 7-day or 30-day lookback window and displayed in affiliate network publisher dashboards as a benchmark metric that prospective publishers use to evaluate program earning potential before applying or increasing promotional activity. Network EPC is one of the primary metrics that publishers use to compare affiliate programs: a program with a 7-day EPC of $0.80 tells a publisher that for every 1,000 clicks they send to this program, they can expect approximately $800 in commission earnings; comparing EPCs across competing programs in the same category helps publishers allocate promotional effort toward the highest-yielding programs. How network EPC is calculated: (total commissions paid to all publishers / total clicks sent by all publishers) over the lookback window. Programs can improve their network EPC through conversion rate optimization on affiliate landing pages and product detail pages (more conversions per click), AOV optimization (promoting higher-priced products through affiliate channels raises commission per conversion), and commission rate increases (directly raising earnings per conversion). Why network EPC can be misleading: network EPC reflects the average across all publishers in the program — including publishers with very low-quality traffic (which lowers the average) and publishers with highly targeted, high-conversion audiences (which raises it); a publisher with a highly relevant audience may significantly outperform network EPC, while a publisher with general interest traffic may underperform; EPC is a useful comparison metric but not a guarantee of individual publisher performance. EPC as a publisher acquisition tool: programs with strong network EPCs use this data in publisher recruitment messaging — a high EPC is a compelling, quantified argument for why a publisher should join or increase promotion of a program; networks typically require minimum traffic and performance history before displaying a program's EPC to prevent new programs from gaming the initial EPC display.
