Affiliate Manager KPIs

The key performance indicators used to measure the effectiveness of affiliate program management — tracked at the program manager or affiliate management team level — covering both program performance outcomes (revenue growth, publisher quality, activation rates) and program management process metrics (communication cadence, publisher response rates, compliance monitoring coverage) that together provide a complete picture of affiliate management effectiveness. Program performance KPIs: Monthly affiliate GMV growth rate — month-over-month and year-over-year percentage growth in total affiliate-attributed revenue. New publisher activation rate — percentage of newly approved publishers who generate at least one conversion within 60 days; below 25% indicates onboarding or communication failures. Active publisher rate — percentage of total approved publishers who generated at least one click in the past 30 days; rising active rate indicates improving program health. Publisher concentration ratio — percentage of total program GMV generated by the top 10 publishers; a ratio above 40% signals vulnerability to publisher departure. Tier 1 publisher retention rate — percentage of Tier 1 publishers in the previous quarter who remain active in the current quarter; Tier 1 churn is the single most damaging performance event in affiliate program management. New-to-brand customer rate — percentage of affiliate-referred conversions from first-time brand customers. Program management process KPIs: Newsletter open rate — industry benchmark is 25-35% for affiliate newsletters; below 20% indicates subject line or content quality problems. Publisher communication response rate — percentage of outbound publisher outreach that receives a publisher response. Compliance monitoring coverage — percentage of active publishers whose content was reviewed for compliance in the past quarter. Publisher satisfaction score — results from periodic publisher satisfaction surveys on communication quality, payment reliability, and affiliate management responsiveness. What to de-emphasize: total approved publisher count (a vanity metric without activation rate context); gross attributed GMV without incrementality context; commissions paid in isolation without ROAS context.
