Voucher/Coupon Publisher

An affiliate publisher that aggregates discount codes, promotional offers, and vouchers for consumer brands, enabling consumers to find promotional codes before completing a purchase. Voucher publishers (also called coupon publishers or deal publishers) are a major publisher type in most affiliate markets, particularly dominant in the UK. How voucher publishers operate: voucher publishers maintain databases of promotional codes for hundreds or thousands of brands; consumers who search for '[brand name] discount code' or '[brand name] voucher' frequently land on voucher publisher sites; voucher publishers earn affiliate commission on purchases made through their affiliate links after consumers find and apply a code; many consumers visit voucher publisher sites immediately before completing a checkout to search for discount codes. Role in different markets: UK: VoucherCodes, MyVoucherCodes, and Voucher Cloud are among the largest UK affiliate publishers; the UK voucher publisher ecosystem is more developed than the US equivalent; US: RetailMeNot, Coupons.com, and Honey are major US voucher publishers; browser extension voucher tools (Honey, Capital One Shopping) automatically apply codes at checkout. Attribution issues: voucher publishers systematically capture last-click credit in last-click attribution programs because consumers search for voucher codes immediately before purchase; many voucher publisher last-click conversions were introduced by content publishers earlier in the journey; this creates over-attribution of commission to voucher publishers relative to their actual incremental value. Managing voucher publishers: limit public coupon code distribution to prevent unauthorized voucher publisher usage of internal codes; use publisher-specific codes that can be tracked back to individual publishers; consider lower commission rates for voucher publishers to account for their late-funnel positioning and limited incrementality.
