AOV

Average Order Value — the average dollar amount spent each time a customer places an order through an affiliate link.

In Plain English

The average size of a shopping cart when a customer buys through an affiliate link — a bigger AOV means more commission per sale for publishers.

How Xark Uses This

Xark uses AOV as a proxy for publisher quality. Content publishers typically drive 15–25% higher AOV than coupon publishers because their audience is in research mode rather than deal-hunting mode. We track AOV by publisher type in every program and use it to justify elevated commission rates for content publishers when making commission restructuring recommendations.

Example

If affiliate orders totaled $48,000 across 320 transactions, the AOV is $150 — which publishers can use to estimate their per-sale commission earnings.
